Do you have a beautiful bunch of curls and want to know how best to look after them? The Keune hair experts give the best tips for men's curly hair. Find out how to care for it, style it and what kind of products are best to use.

Choose the right hairstyle

Because many men are not so sure how to care for curly hair, they often choose to cut it short and add a layer of gel. A shame! Curly hair is something unique and an addition to your character. Embrace your forest of curls!

Invest in a good hairdresser; preferably a curly hairdresser. They specialise in cutting curly hair, even for men. These hairdressers will give you the best advice on your hair, what the best hairstyle is for you, and how to care for and style it. If there is no curly hairdresser near you, find a good barber! The advantage of this is that a barber can take care of your beard right away.

Taking care of curly hair on men

It is actually quite simple. The main rule is to use the right grooming products. This is because the texture of curly hair is thinner and more sensitive. This makes it more fragile. So proper care for curly hair in men is a must.

Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner

Proper care for curly hair in men starts with washing your hair properly. Wash your hair regularly, about twice a week, with a good shampoo and conditioner. And yes, we recommend using a conditioner too. This is because shampoo opens your hair cuticles so it can cleanse your hair. Conditioner then nourishes your hair and closes the cuticles again. This prevents your hair from breaking and becoming frizzy.

Curly hair benefits from products with keratin in them. This keeps hair strong and resilient. Care Confident Curl Low-Poo Shampoo and Care Confident Curl Conditioner are perfect for men with curly hair. If using a conditioner is really too much trouble, use the 1922 Deep Cleansing Shampoo or the 1922 Fortifying Shampoo. Both shampoos are perfect for men with curly hair and provide great conditioning.

Styling tips for curly hair on men

Fair is fair; getting a good hairstyle with curls takes some time, but it is worth it! The following routine will help you get your curls under control and look good. The more you do it, the easier it gets!

  1. One of the most underestimated tips given to people with curls is that it is best to start styling when your hair is still soaking wet. So make sure you don't dry your hair right after shampooing. So leave it nice and wet when you put styling products in your hair.

  2. One of the best products for men's curly hair is a mousse. Take the Cashmere Cloud, for example. This is an airy mousse that does not weigh your curls down but does shape them. Spread the mousse over your hair while it is still wet.

  3. Want a wet look? Then add another strong gel. Then comb your hair back with a coarse comb and let it dry. You can use a hairdryer for this if necessary. Then make sure you blow dry in the direction you want your hair to go.

  4. Do you like more of a 70s look? Then don't use a gel, but spray a texture spray into your hair. Spread the spray over your hair and then let it dry. Again, you can use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process. Go through it again with your hands once it is dry to make it a bit looser and tousled.

The above routines are perfect for short curly hair on men. For long curly hair in men, you can follow the same routine as we described earlier on how to stimulate natural curls.
